A STEP BACK IN TIME

Garroorigang is open on a daily basis for guided tours by either groups or individuals. Coach tours are welcome.

Visitors are shown through the home by a member of the family who will first set the scene with a brief outline of the history of the homestead before conducting visitors through the home. In each of the rooms your guide will tell you about particularly interesting items, the stories behind them and the people who have lived in Garroorigang.

Bookings are required for coach tours or groups of 10 or more persons but are not necessary for individuals, families etc. However, to avoid inconvenience individual visitors, especially those travelling any distance, are advised to call ahead (0248221912 / 0410499374) to check that we are open. Being a family home there will be occasions when functions or family commitments require us to close the home to casual visitors for short periods.

There is a fee for entry which is applied to the conservation of the home and its contents. Current rates are: Adults $20 (Pensioners with cards $15) Children 12-18 years $5. Children under 12 free. Payment should be made by cash or EFT as credit card facilities are not available at the Homestead. Visitors to the home are welcome to picnic in the grounds.

The home is normally open from 10.00 to 12.30 and 1.30pm to 4.40 pm but is on closed major public holidays (Christmas, Anzac Day, Good Friday etc.)

In the winter months (1 June to 31 August) guided tours for casual visitors may be restricted because of weather conditions to weekends between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm. The home is closed to individual visitors during July. Bookings for Coach visits and Group tours (10 persons or more) continue to be accepted during the winter period.
